Labour Day Long Weekend Happenings
The final weekend of summer! Kids (well, parents) are getting ready to head back to school and our thoughts are turning to fall and all things pumpkin. But, there’s time for one last adventure and there are loads of activities and events happening in Surrey to help make this final summer weekend the best weekend yet.
Farm Chores at Historic Stewart Farm
13723 Crescent Road | September 2 – 4, 2023
Learn about the cider-making process and watch a demonstration of the cider press in operation, using apples from the Stewarts’ orchard. Take time to visit the farmhouse and learn about how families once lived in Surrey, and be sure to explore the farm grounds and Elgin Heritage Park afterwards. Guided tours are also available at various times.
Ride into the past on Surrey’s Heritage Rail
Cloverdale Station, Hwy 10 & 176A Street | Saturdays & Sundays
If you’re looking for a little bit of history in Surrey, Surrey’s Heritage Rail operates on weekends from May through September. Explore the Cloverdale Railway station, an exact replica of the original station built in 1910, and then hop onboard a fully restored BC Electric Interurban Railcar for a short journey where you’ll learn about its history and the story of the car’s restoration. Check out the Discover Centre for a short movie and interactive learning tools, buzz down the tracks on the Honeybee Express, and enjoy the family quad car! Tours run Saturdays & Sundays.
Surrey Sunflower Festival
4334 186 Street | Thursdays: 12-6pm Friday – Sunday: 10am-7pm
Walk through a picturesque sunflower field this summer in Surrey! The inaugural Surrey Sunflower Festival will take place every Thursday to Sunday, starting on August 4 and concluding on September 3rd. Tickets are available online and in person. All net proceeds go to the BC Cancer Foundation. The Surrey Sunflower Festival is presented by Genaris Cares.
Big Bounce Canada
Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre Park, 17798 62 Ave | August 18 – September 10
The world’s biggest bouncy castle is in Surrey until September 10! Unleash your inner child and bounce into a world of fun and adventure with family and friends at the 25,000-square-foot inflatable park, located at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds. There are bounce sessions to suit everyone, with dedicated sessions for toddlers, under 7s and under 15s. And there are even adult-only sessions! One ticket, three hours, and a whole bunch of fun!
Fall Openings at Darts Hill Garden Park
1633 – 170 Street | Weekends through September
This true hidden gem exists thanks to the incredible vision of one woman named Francisca Darts. Known as a true Plantsman’s Garden, Darts Hill Garden, which was once a flourishing fruit orchard, is now a beautiful collection of trees and plants from around the world, planted and groomed specifically to flourish during all four seasons. Similar to the Glades Gardens, Darts Hill is open to the public on weekends until September 30.
Farmers Markets
Surrey’s bounty of fresh local produce is just waiting to be devoured and late summer is when the best veggies are finally ready for the picking … and eating! Visit the makers, bakers and growers this weekend at the Surrey Urban Farmers Market and the Clayton Market and stuff your shopping bag full of homegrown goodness.

Paddling at Crescent Beach

There’s still time to get in one last, or maybe your first, paddle of the summer. Head to Crescent Beach and rent a standup paddleboard or kayak from the friendly folks at the Crescent Beach Paddleshack and then head out into the warm, calm waters of Boundary Bay. And remember, life is better at the beach!
Interactive Art Installation
Guildford Town Centre, 10355 152 Street | until September 4
Head to Guildford Town Centre for your back-to-school shopping and take some time to explore the whimsical larger-than-life interactive art installations in the Plaza at Entrance 3. Open daily, visitors can enjoy the art, take the ultimate selfie and participate in a digital game, scan to win, that allows guests to win various gift cards to Guildford Town Centre food and beverage retailers.
Comedy Show at Yuk Yuks Comedy Club – Sharon Mahoney
Yuk Yuks Comedy Club, 17755 60 Ave | September 1 & 2 @ 8:00 pm
Enjoy a night of laughs at Surrey’s only comedy club! Sharon Mahoney is an incredibly engaging performer who strives to make a connection with her audience while you’re doubled over with laughter. The UK Times described her as a, “Cross between Hunter .S. Thompson and Bette Midler”, and she has shared the stage with some of the most established names in the comedy industry
