9 Things to Do Around Surrey on the Easter Weekend
Easter. You know why you love it. It means you’ve made it through "Those Months". The dreary, rainy (sometimes snowy), ‘is-spring-ever-gonna-get-here’ months. And then … Easter! And blossoms! And sunshine! And eggs and bunnies and fun, outdoor, family time! This coming Easter, fill your holiday weekend with a celebration of spring in Surrey.
Ride the Easter Train in Bear Creek Park
Hold onto your hats, kids – or in this case, your Easter bonnets – and hop (pun intended) on over to the Bear Creek Park Train's Easter Egg Hunt and Train Ride. Enjoy a ride through the Easter-themed forest to the egg hunt, where the Easter Bunny will be onhand to pose for selfies and sign autographs...we're not sure about the autograph part, but you will get to meet them, and on weekends enjoy a super adorable petting zoo.
Tots Easter at Museum of Surrey
Bring your tots (3 - 5 years old) to the Museum of Surrey (17710 56a Ave) and celebrate all things spring. Complete a scavenger hunt, take part in arts and crafts, enjoy face painting, and have lots more fun! Admission is FREE! Please note that the Museum will be closed on Easter Friday and Sunday.
Old Fashioned Egg Hunt at Historic Stewart Farm
Hop into spring fun with an old-fashioned egg hunt at Historic Stewart Farm! Little ones can craft their own bunny ears before setting off to explore the picturesque grounds in search of hidden Easter eggs. This charming outdoor event offers a delightful way for families to celebrate the season together.
Easter Market
Celebrate Easter at Potters Garden Centre with a festive pop-up market hosted by Mainland Markets! Browse an array of handmade treasures from local crafters and artisans, surrounded by vibrant spring blooms. From candles and jewelry to delicious bites from food trucks, there’s something for everyone. For extra fun, join the Easter Egg hunt around the greenhouse and make it a day to remember!

Visit a Garden
Surrey has been called the City of Parks, but did you know it’s also home to over a dozen stunning gardens hidden among its greenery? Most are free to visit, and spring is one of the most beautiful times of year to explore. Bear Creek Display Gardens and Fleetwood Park Display Garden are bursting with colour, or take a garden stroll at the always beautiful Hawthorne Gardens. Find more of Surrey's gardens here.
View the Cherry Blossoms
Spring in Surrey is cherry blossom season. Many parks and streets in the city are awash with pink and white petals and it is a welcome sight after a cold, dark winter. We all know that blossom season doesn’t last forever though … so don’t waste any time if you want to see these trees in all their glory! Not sure where to go? The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival’s Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival’s Neighbourhood Map features almost 3000 cherry blossom tree locations across Metro Vancouver, including Surrey, and it will tell you which cultivars are blooming and where to find them.
Go Bird Watching
Did you know that Surrey is on the South Fraser Bird Trail and home to several parks that provide year-round birdwatching? There are over 200 unique species of birds to see in Surrey! Make a checklist of common birds to look for or download a birding app like Merlin or BirdNET, grab your binoculars if you have them, and head out on a birdwatching adventure. It’s an ideal way to appreciate Surrey’s winged wildlife in its natural habitat and explore Surrey’s beautiful green spaces. Here’s information about where to go and what to look for.
Go Golfing
If you’ve been obsessing over weather reports, waiting for the clouds to part so you can hit the links, Surrey is your destination for great golf. Statistically, Surrey gets less precipitation than the rest of Metro Vancouver, meaning our greens are almost always in mint condition. With some of the best golf around, Surrey boasts several 18-hole championship courses like Hazelmere Golf and Tennis Club, Morgan Creek Golf Course, Northview Golf & Country Club, and The Hills at Portal Golf Club as well as courses for all levels of play. If you’re looking for a quick round of pitch and putt, Birdie’s and Buckets boasts 9-holes at a seriously reasonable price.
Hit the Beach
Who says the beach is just for summer? Rain or shine, there’s so much to discover at the beach. Head to Crescent Beach, grab a coffee or an ice cream, or a coffee AND an ice cream, and explore. Keep watch for crabs and clams, and colourful pieces of beach glass.
